Advocacy is more than what she does—it is who she is. With over 10 years of experience, including 4 years as a Family and Child Advocate for survivors of domestic violence, she is deeply passionate about helping others find their voice, reclaim their strength, and heal. Nothing is more meaningful to her than empowering people to recognize their worth and witnessing the light within them shine once more.

​Ms. Battani is a nurse and Navy veteran dedicated to supporting survivors of intimate partner abuse. As both a healthcare professional and a survivor, she brings a unique perspective and deep commitment to advocacy, education, and trauma informed care.

Dr. Jimmy A. Reyes is the Executive Director of MyHealthIowa and an advanced practice nurse with expertise in public health, health policy, and community-engaged research. He holds a BSN, MSN, and Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner certification, as well as a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Iowa, and a Ph.D. in Gerontology from Concordia University Chicago. Dr. Reyes’s work focuses on culturally responsive, family-centered interventions to improve diabetes self-management, nutrition, and physical activity among Latino and underserved communities in Iowa. His leadership emphasizes advancing health equity through collaborative, community- based care models.
